A Guide to Bathroom Refurbishment

Planning a bathroom refurbishment can be a challenge and it can be difficult to know where to begin. A good starting point is to look at the existing style of your home and look around in showrooms and in interior design magazines so you have plenty to inspire you.

Also, decide if you want to keep the bath or shower enclosure, toilet and basin in the same place or alternatively create a new layout that makes the best use of space. Accurately measure the available space and make sure to double check your measurements as every little bit counts, especially if you have a small bathroom.

If you have a small bathroom decide if you want to include a bath or shower enclosure, if you don’t want to have to choose between the two then consider opting for a shower bath. A shower bath is perfect for a bathroom that doesn’t have enough space for a separate bath and shower enclosure, and allows you to combine bathing and showering in the same space.

There are also plenty of space saving products that feature smaller dimensions than normal, which help to maximise the space. A great way to create the illusion of a larger bathroom is to choose a wall-mounted basin and toilet, this will also allow for easier cleaning too.

If you’re lucky enough to have a bathroom with plenty of space then think about installing a freestanding bath, which will become the focal point of your bathroom. Installing a separate shower enclosure is a good idea as it’s always great to be able to decide between having a quick shower or a relaxing soak in the bath. If you have a busy family bathroom why not install double sinks, which means no more fighting over one sink in the morning.

Including bathroom furniture is now an important part of any new bathroom, and provides you with somewhere to store your toiletries out of sight for a neat, organised space. Vanity units are a popular choice for new bathrooms as they feature plenty of storage space for all your bathroom essentials. Complete the look of your new bathroom with accessories, a large illuminated mirror and a heated towel rail.
